Exhaust flap control installation description
Exhaust flap control installation description
The installation of a flap control is simple and can be carried out by anyone with a little manual skill.
Nevertheless, always follow our safety instructions!
(This text is not an installation guide, but a basic description of the installation).
Our control units are all equipped with suitable connections to make installation as easy as possible.
There are two types of exhaust flaps, vacuum and electric.
For both, an existing original plug is disconnected and our control unit is plugged in between.
This takes place at different points depending on the vehicle or design.
Vacuum flap control
Here, the control unit is connected to the solenoid valve, which can be located in the trunk, engine compartment or wheel arch.
In most cases, a connection to ground (negative pole) must be made by simply screwing a cable to the body.
In very few cases, a positive connection is required for the control unit.
Electric flap control
Here, the control unit is connected to the actuator, which is located on the tailpipe of the exhaust.
The connection is located directly on the actuator, in the trunk or footwell, depending on the vehicle.
You can install the flap control unit in the same area where the control unit is connected. Fastening material is supplied.
The time required for installation varies greatly depending on the vehicle design and level of knowledge of the vehicle.
With the simplest control unit, installation is completed in 20 minutes.
Here you can see two installation examples.
On the left, original without control unit and on the right with flap control unit installed.
